Dan Merklinger – Pitcher – Milwaukee Brewers
July 19th, 2011
This past off-season I trained at the Annex with Mickey. Mickey’s training helped me to reach my maximum potential in strength, explosiveness, endurance, and most importantly, overall athleticism. What I liked about Mickey’s training was that it was very specific to me. Mickey focused on hitting the areas that were important to my success on the playing field, keying in on building a strong core. The Annex was somewhere I looked forward to training everyday because of the competitive atmosphere as well Mickey’s enthusiasm and unique approach to performance training. From day one, Mickey was interested having me compete to the best of my ability on the mound. In doing so, Mickey made sure that with every rep I remained in proper form and technique to avoid any possible injuries as well as reaching maximum strength with every lift.
This year I was invited to my first Major League spring training. While being very anxious and not knowing what to expect, I was extremely confident because of my training at the Annex in the off-season. In past years I have always trained hard, but I was never quite sure how I would compare to the other players when I got to camp. However, this year was different because I came into spring training 100 percent confident that I had done everything possible for the upcoming season. This confidence transitioned to myself being confident on the ball field, and not to mention, being in much better shape than a lot of the guys who showed up in early February. I look forward to continuing my training with Mickey and the staff at the Annex in the future because I know through them I can reach my ultimate goal.
